Koforidua Technical University Inter-Departmental Volleyball Competition for both male and female categories, was live at the KTU Volleyball/Basketball court from Thursday 12th to Friday 13th October 2017.
Majority of the departments took part in the competition. Some departments teamed up with other departments to form a solid team.
In the female category,there was a repeat of last year’s final game between Procurement and Supply Science and Hospitality/Fashion.The Procurement ladies showed their superiority over their Hospitality counterparts, by beating them 2 sets to 1,hence successfully defending the title they won last year.
In the male category, the final game was also a repeat of last year’s final, between Computer Science and Engineering 1. At the end of the game it was Computer Science guys who got revenge after they beat the Engineering lads by 2 sets to 1 in a closely contested final.
Here are the winners and their various prizes.
For the Female Category :
First place went to Procurement & supply Sci., they took home 500 GH cedis, a Set of Jersey, a volleyball and a Trophy.
Second place to Hospitality/Fashion, they took home 300 GH Cedis and a volleyball.
Third place went to Faculty of Applied Science and Technology (FAST) They took home 200 GH Cedis and a volleyball.
Fourth place went to Accountancy, they took home 100 GH Cedis and a volleyball.
For the Male category;
The First place went to Computer Science, they took home 500 GH Cedis, a set of Jersey, a volleyball and a trophy.
Second place went to defending champions Engineering 1, they took home 300 Ghana Cedis and a volleyball.
Third place went to faculty of built and natural resources, they took home 200 GH Cedis and a volleyball. Then the fourth was Procurement and supply science, unfortunately there was no prize for fourth place in the male category.
The competition was watched by a sizeable crowd including students, lecturers and some staff of KTU all cheering their favorite departments and faculties. The competition was not all volleyball, there was good music to charge the atmosphere, two of KTU’s finest Djs, Dj Deekay da bossdj and the unstoppable Dj OKD all of KTU Radio 87.7 MHz were behind the turn table.
Another interesting segment was the ‘Open Mic’ session powered by Dj Deekay Da Boss Dj. The reigning best campus rapper Bla Blight did his thing during the session.The University volleyball coach was also around to scout for some new players for his team.The Chief Announcer for the compition was the Sports Dr of KTU Radio.
Overall the two day competition was a success, congratulations to the Sports Manager Mr. Seth Kumi and his crew for organizing such a competition.
