The 20-year-old second runner-up of Miss Akwaaba 2017 Nichola Appiah an HND Marketing Student of KTU has bashed the organizers of this year’s event.
In an interview on the Jolly Ride Show on KTU Radio 87.7MHz with the King of Drive Show King Patoa, Nichola said she was expecting something unprecedented, unfortunately this year’s organization was very poor compared to last years, no flyers to hype the show, artist came late and water thrown all over the place. She gave the organizers four out of ten when asked to rate them and advised them to sit-up.
The Winner, 19-year-old Benedicta Oforiwaa Boateng of the Procurement and Supply Science department and the first runner-up, 18-year-old Chelsea Nana Akua Marfo of the Accountancy department were also present at the studios of KTU Radio for the interview. They both rated the organizers six out of ten.
Benedicta said she gave the organizers six out of ten because everything was not perfect.
Chelsea on the other hand said she rated the organizers six out of ten because her expectations were not met.
last year’s contestants had more fun, they went for trips and they were given more prizes, this year nothing like that happened.
According to Chelsea, during the launch of the Akwaaba week celebrations, the organizers told everyone present that, Kiddi, Kwami Eugene, King Promise as well as Yaa Pono will all be performing during the Mr. & Miss Akwaaba night, but it was only Yaa Pono who turned up for the event. She added that, team work amongst the organizers was missing.
Regardless of all these flaws she was quick to add that student should not put too much blame on the organizer since they did not know what went wrong during the planning of the event.
When King Patoa the host of the Jolly Ride Show asked about the prizes they won during the event, Nichola debunked rumors circulating that they were given the popular Koforidua bread (B.Foster). She said she got a rice cooker for winning the second runner-up.
Chelsea said she got an electric iron for winning the most talented and a rice cooker for winning the first runner-up.
Benedicta also got an electric iron for winning best model and a burner for winning the Miss Akwaaba Crown.
Miss Akwaaba 2017 Benedicta Oforiwaa Boateng said she will use her crown to influence people to join pageant shows to boast their confidence level, she is also teaming up with one of the lecturers to carry out the 1 Ghana Cedi Project which will be used to assist needy students.
The pretty ladies thanked their trainer, families and all the student body for their support during the event.
I hope the Jolly Ride producers will bring the SRC Organizer to the Studio to respond to some of these issues the ladies talked about.
