After an intensive practical training, the Virtual Industrial Attachment (VIRA) ended with a closing ceremony held at Aba Bentil theatre, Koforidua Technical University Campus on Friday, 13th July, 2018. The programme which lasted for three weeks had about a total students’ participant of 1,300
Hands-on training
VIRA was instituted to aid students who in one way or the other did not get placement at any company/organisation for their internship/attachment. VIRA provided students with practical training on campus. Students gain relevant practical experience as seasoned industrial experts were engaged to facilitate the programme hence bridging the gap between academia and industry.
Collaboration
This year’s VIRA, sent students of the Hospitality Department to Beige Village for two (2) weeks industrial training for the first time. “BEIGE Village sponsored feeding and accommodation for our students” said, Mr. Peter Kosoe (Ag. Industrial liaison officer)
BEIGE Village is a subsidiary of The BEIGE Group, a Ghanaian owned investment firm with interests in finance, hospitality, real estate, logistics and mining. In 2011, the organization emerged winners of Best Golf Club and Best Spa gold categories and again in 2012, was ranked Best Golf Resort, Best 3D Star Hotel/Restaurant and Best Conference Hotel in the West African Tourism and Hospitality awards which was held in Lagos.
The Monitoring and Evaluation
At the end of the programme, students were assessed by their facilitators and vice versa. The Quality Assurance Directorate a division under the Vice-Chancellor’s Office were not left out. They had a general assessment of the 2018 VIRA; an assessment conducted on the industrial liaison office, the facilitators and students who participated of which the results will be out soon.
