When I remember the past. Where students of KTU had the notion that, if you aren’t from the Faculty of Business and Management Studies (FBMS) or the Faculty of Engineering (FOE) then forget the position of the SRC president. Yes, let me gradually sink to reality. Based on the records, all hands pointed to the same directions every year which connotes the fact that all that was said was nothing but the Truth. Taken into consideration of when B’TECH was introduced, all efforts of characters from the weekend/BTECH targeting the seat of the SRC president remained futile.
Regarding the past SRC constitutions ie from 2010-2014, B’TECH/WEEKEND students were given room to choose a rep to represent them at the SRC level. It was later after the promulgation of the 2015/16 constitution where BTECH/WEEKEND students were given the chance to compete for the HND’s in terms of vying for SRC positions.
This amendment gave birth to a lot of Vibrant, Experienced and Matured characters from BTECH/WEEKEND to contest for the positions of the SRC, but yet still they all couldn’t make it. The significance among them all was of the fact that they were all from the chosen faculties for the presidency which is FBMS and FOE and the saddening aspect of the whole game is that, “the reason behind their loss remains a mystery”.
The Faculty of Business and Management Studies (FBMS) has so far in the history of SRC produced the highest number of characters who have ascertained the seat of the SRC president. Although they’ve produced majority (SRC presidents), they also produced the most prospective presidential aspirants in the just ended SRC election even to the extent of five (5) candidates coming from the same department under the said faculty.
The Faculty of Applied Science and Technology produced two (2) candidates for the position of the SRC President of which one immerged the winner(SARFO KANTANKA)
The person in question (SARFO KANTANKA) is a B’TECH/WEEKEND student/Computer Networking and from the Faculty of Applied Science but was able to break the omen of Weekend/HND banter to win the SRC presidential portfolio. _Is not that a History_
Surprisingly, the crow never sounded usual in our ears which is, “President of the SRC’19/20 is from FBMS or FOE” but from the FAST/Computer Networking/Weekend/B’TECH.
Multitudes claimed the seat for the SRC Presidency is for either FBMS/FOE or better still HND and even went to the extent of predicting base on pre/historical facts that a character from FAST/WEEKEND/BTECH and COMPUTER NETWORKING can never and ever immerge the seat of the SRC president but here we are now, the odor of the wind has changed. Hasn’t history lied to us?
I wish I can mix words into delicious and tasty noodles to roll away ignorance. Politics they say is a game of intelligence; if you don’t run fast, you’ll get trampled.
I’m again very saddened and I wish I can meet SARFO KANTANKA’s contenders. Why are you people barking in anguish as if 8 months is a decade? Hold peace at its neck and join to make history together. Never think of which haunting because at the end of the day, you’ll bear the cost. The nature of hope flames helps; the nature of help also brings happiness and above all happiness arrests flames of bitterness. I think this will make no sense but thank God you’re quite reading.
