Three students from Galaxy International School have clinched several medals in the just ended Owlypia Global Round competition, held at Fitzwillian College at Cambridge University, UK. Owlypia, the Intellectuals’ Challenge is an international platform for students aged 11-14 (Owlets) and 15-18 (Owlys).
It aims to inspire intellectual curiosity and develop research skills and academic confidence in young minds.
The competition which saw over 20 countries competing for awards in fierce brain battles had Galaxy International School as the only representative of Ghana.
The Ghana team at the end of the competition bagged 7 medals, becoming one of the top medal winners in the competition.
The Ghana team was represented by Owuraku Addo Ayisi who won a Gold and Bronze medal, Kwesi Selassie Amonor Ansah, one silver and 2 bronze medals, Rudolf Kofi Asiedu Affanyi 2 bronze medals.
Galaxy International School is the only official Owlypia examination centre in Ghana, they have always participated in many Owlypia Competitions around the world.
Jasur Domullojonov, the college counsellor and the leader of the Ghana team was excited about the great exploits of the students.
He reiterated that Galaxy International School believes in the holistic development of the child, creating international platforms and opportunities for students to explore their potentials, that is why Galaxy International School has always participated in Owlypia, he said.
This year’s theme was “Creativity Beyond the Borders”. At the Owlypia, students participated in three competitions:
- Owlypia Online
- Owlypia Locals
- Owlypia Globals
By participating in the Owlypia competitions in five different subject areas, which are Social Studies, Art & Design, Literature & Culture, Science & Technology and Economics & Business, young intellectuals can share their creative ideas, develop their multidisciplinary academic skills, unlock their potential, build self- confidence, develop collaborative teamwork skills and create new friendships.
