Not long ago, artiste Kurl Songx became the talk of Ghana following a revelation made by K’Swagg that Kurl charged him GH¢1,500 for a feature and G¢6,000 for video appearance.
Most music enthusiasts described Kurl Songx as greedy for demanding such a whopping amount from underground musician. In the process, Sarkodie came to the rescue of Kurl.
Now, it looks like underground or better still up and coming musicians in Ghana are really suffering in the hands of well-known musicians in reference to collaborations especially when it comes to appearance fees.
Two Sure who happens to be one of the underground musicians in Ghana has recalled his ordeal in the hands of Yaa Pono in the name of a collaboration. According to Two Sure, Yaa Pono (Ponobiom), made him sell his refrigerator in the name of a collaboration.
Speaking to DJ Nyame of SVTV Africa fame, he wanted to feature Ponobiom on his song at a fee of GH¢3000; an amount that was charged by Ponobiom. He said, in order to get the required amount, so that, the collaboration becomes possible, he sold his refrigerator at half the charged amount.
However, upon calling the Tema-based rapper that, he now has in possession half of the money, he told him to fight for the remaining, before he can put his voice on the song.
‘’I sold the refrigerator at GH¢1,500 hoping that at least he could consider, but he insisted, I should get the exact amount before we can work’.
“Even as I sit here today, I still call him, but funny enough, he hasn’t increase nor decrease, he still demands for GH¢3,000″.
