In about 6000 years a group of very similar cattle with huge horns have played a role in the lives of African tribes. Also known as the cattle of kings, Ankole longhorn cattle this breed originated in eastern Africa, Burundi, Lake Victoria and Tanganyika.
The use of horn as a natural material for the production of the garment and other artefacts seems not to be very common in recent times among Ghanaians and this situation is reflected in the number of people who practice garment as a vocation.
In some few years back, horn mostly used for accessories and other artefacts in Africa. The use of African resource like horn as an inspiration for garment is limited in Ghana, most fashion designers find it difficult to design garment from African resources in the fashion industry in different garments and accessories were designed and produce from Ankole cow horns Ankole cow horn was designed to produce garments in Koforidua, the Eastern Region of Ghana.
The research content also based on Ankole cow horn to design and produce garments The researcher encountered a series of limitations during the research programme because some of the facilities were not around to support.
Most fashion designers find it difficult to design a garment from African resources in the fashion industry, therefore, the use of horn as a natural material for the production of the garment and other artefacts seems not to be very common in recent times among Ghanaians. In some few years back, horns were mostly used for accessories and other artefacts in Africa.
The use of African resource like horn as an inspiration for the garment is limited in Ghana. The exploratory research design was used to execute this project together with observation research instrument. The project found out what makes cow horn garments, identified suitable garments that can be produced from Ankole cow horn, designed and produce garment and accessories. On the whole, the project was successful.
