The Dome Market, in the Ga East Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, has been shut down after traders failed to observe the social distancing rule.
Traders were given the green light to go into the market although the area is under lockdown.
However, JoyNews’ Fred Smith reports that brisk trading activities have been going on in the market despite the government’s advice on the need to observe social distancing.
These actions put the lives of shoppers and market women at risk of contracting the coronavirus.
Speaking to Fred Smith, one trader said that the leaders of the market are hoping to start a shift system to enforce social distancing.
