The West African Examination Council has commenced the registration process for the 2021 Basic Education Certificate Examination which is scheduled to take place in November instead of the usual June.
Reports from the various District Education Examination Officers indicate that Headteachers of some public Junior High Schools are registering pupils from Private schools for the 2021 Basic Education Certificate Examination. Others are also believed to have added JHS 1 and 2 pupils to their list.
Management of Ghana Education Service has picked up signals of these illegalities and warn Headteachers to desist from these acts. Management of Ghana Education Service says it has put up a vetting team to scrutinise the list submitted by Heads of public Junior High Schools. They will cross-check with the enrollments figures contained at the Education Management and Information System (EMIS) offices.
It is not apparently clear to why Basic school managers indulge in such unscrupulous acts. But, is believed that they(Headteachers) collect money before committing such acts.
Headteachers who would be found culpable would have themselves to blame.
