Education Think Tank, Africa Education Watch (EduWatch) has said it will June this year audit the Ghana Education Service (GES) 2017 to 2019 trained teachers postings process for transparency and accountability.
EduWatch Executive Director, Mr Kofi Asare announced this last year in a social media post sighted by Educationweb.com.gh after GES released the appointment letters of graduates who completed CoE’s in 2017 to 2019
“We (Africa Education Watch) is aware that only 2.5% of the newly recruited 16,000 teachers were posted to Accra and close to 50% to the five Northern Regions with the highest Pupil Trained Teacher Ratio,” he stated.
The Executive Director in an open letter to the Director-General of the GES said “we are aware of the ongoing skirmishes (some political) by many newly posted teachers to change postings from the North to the South.”
The Educational-oriented civil society group in its letter urged Prof Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa, the Director-General of the Education Service to be transparent in the newly trained teachers postings for it shall audit them.
According to the Watch, it would not hesitate to publish the aftermath of the postings audit to the general public should any re-posting be detected.
