The Minister for Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum has said the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo led government has released an amount of money for the payment of the ‘much-expected but delayed’ teacher trainees allowances.
Dr Yaw Adutwum disclosed this at a meeting with the leadership of the Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG).
Speaking to TTAG, the Education Minister said “funds have been released by the government for the payment of the allowances for teacher trainees across the 46 public Colleges of Education in the country.”
The teaching Minister emphasized that the Nana Akufo-Addo administration is committed to paying the teacher trainees allowances since it’s a significant intervention to the trainee teachers.
Commenting on reports that the public Colleges of Education are threatening to shut down amid lack of funds for food items, the Education Minister assured the leadership of TTAG he will engage stakeholders involved in the matter.
The Educationist admonished the trainees to remain resolute as his outfit delves into the issue of why the students are not fed on campus and the cause of the delay in the payment of the allowances.
