The Ghana Education Service (GES) says teachers as they wait for the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) to release the new curriculum-based textbooks can use the old textbooks for teaching in classrooms.
Prof. Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa, the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES) announced this in an interview with the Accra-based Peace 104.3 FM monitored by EducationWeb.com.gh on Thursday.
Speaking in the interview, the Director-General said even though teachers are mandatory to get the new curriculum-based textbooks for teaching however they must not base their teaching on only textbooks.
According to him, Ghanaian teachers must find their own ways and means to teach students in the classroom including using a mobile phone and other electronic devices as they wait for the new NaCCA textbooks.
“So maybe you have a topic that interest you in the old textbooks, you can use that to teach using the skills of the standard-based. The topics have not changed but how you teach has only changed” Prof Opoku Amankwa stated.
He said the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) in the shortest possible time will announce the release of the new standard-based curriculum-based textbooks to teachers and the general public.
